Coordinator's
Guide
The Lighten Up 4 Montgomery County weight loss challenge
starts January 18 and ends May 17, 2010.
Lighten Up 4
Montgomery County will educate participants about how
maintaining a healthy body weight can improve health and
reduce the risk of developing certain chronic diseases and
life-threatening conditions, including cardiovascular
disease, diabetes and stroke.
Businesses, organizations and the community at-large are
invited to form 4-person teams to compete for monthly
prizes and grand prizes.
Registration is
ongoing –– participants are encouraged to sign up anytime.
There is no limit to the number of teams you can have from
your organization.
How to
Start
As a Lighten Up team coordinator, you can rally your
co-workers and friends to form teams of four. These teams
will compete with each other to lose the greatest
percentage of body weight. Teams choose their own weight
loss and exercise plan. Helpful diet and exercise tips can
be found at lightenup4montgomery.com.
As a coordinator, you are a cheerleader for your team's
participation! For example, coordinators can help organize
healthy lunch groups, walking groups and set goals for
their teams.

to sign up by visiting lightenup4montgomery.com
to download the registration
form. Team members will need the following information to
register (teams of 4 only):
• Team name –– be
as creative or silly as you please! –– with each member's
name, phone number, email address and beginning weight.
• Once all their information is
submitted on the registration form they are
registered.
After completing registration, participants will be emailed
a Lighten Up 4 Montgomery
County PERKS Card which allows them to take advantage of
offers from local businesses. They will need to print out
their PERKS Card and remember to keep it with them to
receive these offers.
How to Report
Weights
Team members will submit their individual weights each
month on the Monthly Report Form on lightenup4montgomery.com.
One member or team
coordinators can submit weights for the whole team.
The best results happen when coordinators remind
participants about weigh-in dates and encourage
participants to weigh themselves on the same scale every
month to insure consistent weighing throughout the
competition.

Schedule:
• Weigh-in February 15 – 19
•
Weigh-in March 15 – 19
•
Weigh-in April 12 – 16
•
Final weigh-in date May 17, 2010
Confidentiality is
important! All
participant information will be kept
confidential.
Winning teams will be announced monthly on
lightenup4montgomery.com.
The grand prize team and
grand prize individual will be announced on May 21.
