Lighten Up 4 Montgomery County is a FREE 3-month weight loss competition coordinated by Fusion Fitness & Aquatics and sponsored by local businesses. Our goal is to help you improve your overall health and fitness.
When is the competiton?
Lighten Up 4 Montgomery County starts January 7, 2011, and ends April 2.
Who can participate?
Anyone age 14 and above. You can form your own 4-member team, or you can enter as an individual.
Must I be on a team?
No, but we've found that participants are more likely to stick with healthy habits if they have the support and motivation of friends and family.
What can I win?
After each monthly weigh-in, the team and the individual with the greatest percentage of weight loss will win prizes. At the end of the competition, the top three teams and the top individual will win cash prizes ($400 to the 1st place team, $200 for 2nd place, $100 for 3rd place, and $100 to the top individual).
How do I weigh in?
Weigh-ins are based on the honor system. Weight reports can be submitted online on this website or at Fusion. All weight reports are kept confidential. You should always use the same scale to ensure consistent weighing throughout the competition.
When do I submit my weight?
When you register, you'll submit your starting weight, and then report your weight after each month. The first monthly weight report should be submitted February 8-10, the second March 7-9, and the final weigh-in deadline is April 2.
Must I follow a specific diet?
No. You determine your own diet and exercise routines.
Do I have to attend meetings?
No. You are not required to attend any meetings.
How do I get started?
To join the Lighten Up competition, you must register as part of a team or as an individual. You will be asked to submit your name, a team name, the company or organization you are affiliated with (if applicable), your email address and your phone number. There are two ways to enter:
• Fill out the online Registration Form and submit it by email.
• Registration forms are available anytime at the Fusion front desk.
Does everyone on my team have to fill out a registration form?
No. One person can fill out and submit one form for the entire team, but you must include the names of each teammate as well as everyone’s email address so that all will receive Lighten Up updates.
