CATCH Kids Club Helps Children At Risk Of Becoming Overweight

CATCH Kids Club meets at Fusion for two hours, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each day's session includes structured time for nutrition education, healthy snacks and homework followed by 60 minutes of fun, high-energy games and relays led by Fusion staff.
The program is targeted at children in grades 3-5 who are at risk of suffering the lifelong side effects of childhood obesity, including high blood pressure, diabetes and joint problems.
A Family Day will be offered one Saturday a month. Activities will include the Bounce House, organized games for kids and parents, and swimming in Fusion's pool.
The program is free for children who qualify for their school district's free/reduced price lunch program.
Those who do not meet the income eligibility requirement can participate through purchase of a CATCH Kids Club membership for $180 (12 weeks at $5/session), which may be paid in monthly installments.
In order to participate, the child's parent or guardian must:
• Obtain a health history from the child's physician. This can be faxed to Fusion at 532-3908.
• Complete the CATCH Kids Club application form, which is available at Fusion and at area medical offices.
• Agree to participate in CATCH Kids Club family activities.
This program is made possible at Fusion by trust funds provided to Hillsboro Area Hospital by the late Dr. Frederick Barry, Coffeen, whose vision was to help children with crippling diseases and disorders.
